Buy a company
Three ways into a Norwegian company.
The difference is what comes with it: customers and history, a clean company with the organisation number issued, or a brand new one. Choose below.
If you are unsure, call Lars on +47 92 20 33 00. It takes five minutes to work out which of the three you are.
01
Buy a business that is running
Customers, turnover, employees and history come with it. You take over something that already earns.
- ✓You see what is listed today
- ✓Accounts and contracts after a signed NDA
- ✓The seller often stays through a handover
02
Buy a shelf company
A registered limited company may save registration time. Before an offer, its organisation number, share capital, history and obligations are documented.
- ✓History, obligations and status are documented before a decision
- ✓Can often be transferred by power of attorney, subject to identity and bank checks
- ✓You choose the name and purpose yourself
03
Start a new company
The cheapest of the three. You pay for the founding and the fee, not for waiting — but Brønnøysund decides when it is registered.
- ✓AS or ENK — we settle which one fits
- ✓Foreign owners and founders supported
- ✓The papers are written and filed for you
In short
The choice comes down to time, cost and what you need.
A shelf company costs more than founding one yourself, because the wait has already been taken. A running business costs the most, because you are buying income that already arrives. None of them is right for everyone.
01Need an organisation number this week? Then a shelf company is the answer. Everything else depends on processing time you do not control.
02Want customers from day one? Then you buy a business that is running. It takes longer to complete, but you do not start from zero.
03Have time, and want to keep the cost down? Then you start a new one. We write the papers and say so if anything in the plan points to a different company form.
Still unsure?
Describe what you will be doing and when you want to be running. Lars will say which of the three is cheapest for exactly that — including when the answer is the cheapest option.
