If you’re moving within a Norway, you must always notify the National Population Register.

Get in Touch

If you’re moving within a Norway, you must send a change of address notification to the National Population Register.  You can send the change of address notification as early as 31 days prior to moving, but no later than 8 days after you’ve moved.

In case you are moving to a non-Nordic country, you must tell the National register that you are moving in cases where you intend to stay abroad for at least six months. You will be automatically registered as having emigrated from Norway if the notification is accepted in the country of relocation.

You do not report a move from Norway if

  • you have already registered a move to another country
  • you have a D number (as a foreign citizen)
